Description

Hardcovers in good condition for age. Three volumes: vol. I (1815, clxvi, 336 pp.), vol. II. Part the First (1819, xii, 369 pp.) and vol II. Part the Second (1830, xvi, 402 pp.). More photos on request. Labelled volumes I to III on spines. Features various fold-out maps and illustrations, coloured and black-and-white. Half leather boards. Leather spines with bands and gilt decorations. Dedicated by author (in print) to Charles Howard, Duke of Norfolk. Marbled paper on boards is worn and sunned, with abrasions. Splits and abrasions on leading corners, edges and spines. Spine sides of vol. II part one are partially split down lengths. Front board is almost detached. Page blocks and pages are tanned and marked. Pages are creased. Bookplates on front pastedowns. Penned signature on reverse of FEP of volume one. Penned dedication opposite title page of volume one: 'To the Right Reverend The Lord Bishop of Chichester a Presentation Copy From His Grace the Duke of Norfolk', dated either 23rd March 1851 or 1857. Title page of volume one is partially detached. Volume one fold-outs are nicked on leading edges. Bindings are exposed between some pages but remain intact. Contents are clear throughout. HCW Used
